In this article we will introduce you to various ways in which you can buy NEO very easily, quickly and securely. We will also show you how to install the best NEO wallet and keep your NEO safe. Before you read through the individual instructions for the various exchanges and brokers, you should make an important decision in advance. Depending on your decision, you will receive a recommendation for the buy (or sell) of NEO from us.
Guide: Choosing the best NEO exchange
You have to ask yourself this central question: Would you like to keep your NEO coins yourself and have full control over your property? Or are you looking for a simple solution and delegating the responsibility of the administration to a broker? If you don’t want to own a “real” NEO, you have the opportunity to invest in NEO CFDs.
You should consider the following when answering this question: The basic idea of cryptocurrencies is to create a financial system that works without third parties and middlemen (e.g. banks, credit institutions). Therefore, in our opinion, it is desirable to manage the NEOyourself, since only you have access to your asset via your private key. Crypto exchanges and brokers have the big disadvantage that they keep the private key for you. So you give up control of your asset.
However, this is not the only disadvantage. In the past, exchanges and brokers have been victims of hacker attacks, with large amounts of cryptocurrencies being stolen. Therefore, in our opinion, it is safer to manage your NEO yourself. However, it can be complicated for beginners to set up and use a desktop or hardware wallet.
Another possibility is to trade cryptocurrency CFDs. It is very important to know that you do not own the cryptocurrency, like NEO, but only the certificate (CFD) on a rising (long) or falling (short) price. On the basis of these preliminary considerations, we would like to make the following recommendations:
- If you want to own and manage NEO yourself, we recommend Kriptomat. There you can buy NEO using Euro or USD (SEPA, credit card, Neteller, Skrill). Then you can send the NEO to your wallet.
- If you want to invest in NEO, but are looking for a quick and easy solution because you don’t want to deal with the technical details (and therefore no control over the private key), then you should buy NEO from the leading broker eToro.
- If you want to buy or sell NEO with leverage, NEO CFDs might be the right choice for you. In this case, trading via eToro or Plus500** offers itself as an established and well-known broker.

Below you can find instructions for Kriptomat, Coinmerce.io, eToro and Plus500 brokers. We’ll also show you how to trade NEO against Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Binance Coin (BNB) and other cryptocurrencies on the popular Binance NEO cryptocurrency exchange.
Buy NEO on eToro
Another reliable merchant to buy NEO is eToro. The biggest advantage of this platform is the deposit protection per customer up to a value of 20.000 Euro. Furthermore, the user interface is available in German and very clearly arranged. The first step is to visit the official website etoro.com (click here!**). Then click on the green button “Register now”. Then a new window will open where you have to enter your first and last name, e-mail, password, telephone number and a user name.

Cryptoassets are highly volatile unregulated investment products. No EU investor protection.
Once you have successfully done this, you will also need to accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Then you can click on the blue button “Create account”.
Limits for NEO at eToro
Once you have successfully completed these steps, you will automatically be logged into your account. Your current account is subject to certain deposit limits as you have not yet fully verified your identity. This means that the initial deposit limit is 2,000 euros. Below you will find an overview of all payment options that depend on your place of residence and their limits.
However, as can be seen from the table, the variants are partly dependent on the place of residence of the trader. You got these options:
- Bank transfer /SEPA
- Credit card
- GiroPay / SOFORT
- PayPal
In order to use the full range of functions, you have to prove your identity and address as well as a tax number. This process is necessary in connection with the strict requirements of EU legislation and is already an integral part of the secure operation of the platforms on many other exchanges.
Verification is completely free and can be done in a few simple steps. Click on the “Edit” button on your profile. There the necessary documents are listed, which have to be submitted in order to activate the full range of functions.
Now you can deposit money. All you have to do is select “Deposit money” at the bottom left and then select your preferred payment method. Depending on the type of deposit (see table above), the credit will be either slightly faster or slower. Now you can go straight to buying NEO.
Buy NEO from eToro
eToro has the special feature that both “real” NEO and NEO CFDs can be purchased on the platform.
In contrast, all buy positions with leverage are executed as CFDs. CFDs are so-called derivatives – a security whose value or performance depends on the performance of one or more underlying assets. They are specialized and popular over-the-counter (OTC) financial products that allow traders to easily open positions in a variety of different financial markets. The underlying asset – NEO – is not acquired by the investor. All you receive is a certificate.
Buy “Real” NEO
EToro currently offers 15 different cryptocurrencies for trading, including NEO. To buy “real” NEO, you have to click on “Markets” and then on “Crypto” and then on NEO. The following screenshot shows you how it works:
The letter “B” stands for buy NEO and “S” for sell NEO. Click on the “K” in the NEO line to start the purchase. Then you just have to enter the amount of NEO you want to buy. Then click on “Buy” (without changing any other setting) and your transaction will be completed within a few seconds. Now you have already bought NEO easily and quickly. The NEO are now stored on your eToro account / wallet.

Buy NEO CFDs
The purchase of NEO CFDs on eToro works similar to the “real” purchase of the cryptocurrency NEO. To buy NEO CFD click on “B” to buy NEO. After that you get to the usual overview. Here you have to make some settings.
First you determine the amount of money you want to invest in this trade. Then you have to adjust the lever multiplier “X2”. (For cryptocurrencies, eToro currently doesn’t offer a bigger leverage.) Then you should check your stop loss and take profit settings. A stop-loss limit is very important to limit the possible risk. Then you can open the trade. This is executed immediately when the trade is placed.
Stop Loss means that you close a trade if the NEO price reaches a fixed market price or an amount of money that you have set yourself.
Take Profit determines when your trade is automatically closed when the profit of your trade reaches the amount you have chosen. It is also important to note that eToro charges overnight fees (also known as rollover fees). These will appear in the pop-up window (at the bottom) before you place your order (see screenshot).

The eToro wallet
Since March 2019 eToro offers the possibility to manage single cryptocurrencies – Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin and XRP – on a mobile wallet (an app). The app makes it possible to withdraw your own “real” cryptocurrencies from the exchange and send them to an external wallet.
Unfortunately, NEO cannot yet be managed via the eToro Wallet (June 2019). So you are forced to keep the NEO on eToro. As soon as there are news in this area, we will inform you about it here!
Minimum deposits and processing fees
When trading on eToro, you need to keep the following in mind:
- All trading accounts are maintained in US dollars (and not euros). That’s why your deposit will be converted into US dollars immediately. This is done at the current exchange rate and a conversion fee will be charged.
- The minimum deposit is 50 USD. A minimum of 500 USD is required for deposits made by bank transfer.
- A withdrawal handling fee will be charged for withdrawals. You will see the respective withdrawal fee in the cashier area after you have entered the withdrawal amount. For payouts greater than 50 USD, this is 25 USD.
Is eToro safe and recommendable?
From our point of view, this question is very important because the management of private keys is delegated to a broker. The user gives the control over his own assets to a third party, here: eToro! This makes it all the more important that the broker is reputable and trustworthy.
This can be clearly affirmed with eToro. Customer funds are usually well protected when the broker is supervised by a regulatory authority. eToro is controlled by two regulatory authorities that are considered to be very accurate and strict in professional circles:
- CySEC: As eToro has part of its registered office in Cyprus, the Cypriot CySEC is responsible for monitoring.
- FCA: As eToro has also established a subsidiary in the UK, FCA in the UK is also responsible for the control of eToro.
The broker also actively protects customer deposits by keeping them separate from the company’s assets. Even if the broker were to become insolvent, the customer’s money would not flow into the insolvency estate.

Buy NEO on Kriptomat
About Kriptomat
If you’re looking for a wallet that allows you to send cryptocurrencies to your own personal wallet without much detour (like eToro), Kriptomat is our top recommendation. On the website you can currently buy over 30 cryptocurrencies via SEPA bank transfer, credit card or Neteller. According to the motto of the exchange “Crypto for everyone”, Kriptomat offers in our opinion a simple and modern user interface that allows really everyone, regardless of experience level, to purchase NEO and other cryptocurrencies.
This does not mean, however, that Kriptomat is only a good address for beginners. In our opinion, the exchange offers some good reasons to use it, even for experienced investors. As far as seriousness is concerned, you don’t have to worry about Kriptomat, because the company behind the platform has two licenses issued by the government in Estonia for the custody and sale of cryptocurrencies. But this is not our main argument for Kriptomat. It is much more the low fees.
Unlike other exchanges and brokers, Kriptomat does not charge a price premium, the so-called “spread”. At Kriptomat, the purchase price is equal to the spot price of NEO, so the final price is very transparent and comparatively low, unlike other exchanges. The exchange only charges the following transaction fees:
Transaction | Fee % | Minimum |
---|---|---|
SEPA (Euro to crypto) | 1.45% | 1,45 EUR |
Zimpler | 2,89 % | |
Skrill | variable | |
Neteller | variable | |
SEPA sell (crypto to Euro) | 1,45% | 1,45 EUR |
Credit card >100 EUR | 3,65 % | |
Credit card <100 EUR | variable |
Registration and verification
As this is a European platform you have to be prepared for an extensive registration process, similar to opening a bank account or registering with eToro. Before you can buy just one NEO you have to register and fully verify your NEO. The first step is (logically) to go to the official website kriptomat.io*. There you will find the orange “Register” button on the start page. When you click on it, all you have to do is enter your first and last name, an e-mail address and a password. Kriptomat will then verify your e-mail address by sending you an e-mail with an activation link.
But this was just the beginning. You will continue with your telephone number (step 2 of 4). After entering it on the website, Kriptomat will send you an SMS containing a verification code which you have to enter on the website to verify the authenticity of the number. In step 3 of 4, Kriptomat needs to collect all of your personal data (see screenshot).
First you enter your address (street, house number, city, country). In order to verify this, the platform again requires proof. You can present this in the form of a photo or a scan of your passport or identity card. To make this process as quick and easy as possible, Kriptomat offers the option to continue the registration on your smartphone, if you have done it on your desktop PC so far.
If you decide to do so, Kriptomat will send you an SMS with an individual link. You can then take a picture of your ID on your smartphone and upload it to Kriptomat. The same applies to a selfie of yours, which you can easily do with your mobile phone. This completes step 3 of 4 of the registration process, which gives you the following limits:
Transaction | Limits |
---|---|
Daily deposit and withdrawal via SEPA | 25,000.00 EUR |
Monthly deposit and withdrawal via SEPA | 200,000.00 EUR |
Deposit and withdrawal in cryptocurrencies | no limit |
Daily limit for other payment methods | 500.00 EUR |
Monthly limit for other payment methods | 5,000.00 EUR |
As you can see from the table, there is no way around paying by SEPA Bank Transfer if you want to buy higher amounts (> 500 euros per day) and benefit from the lowest fees. However, to make a SEPA bank transfer, you still need to complete step 4 of 4 of the registration process and prove ownership of your bank account. Only then can you deposit money via SEPA and use this “credit” to buy NEO. By the way, this step is the same for the other payment methods: Neteller, Skrill and credit cards are not required. A good overview of the entire verification process can be found in the following tutorial by Kriptomat:
Buy NEO on Kriptomat
Now that you have mastered registration and verification, the actual purchase of NEO should be a breeze. When you are on your account overview page, click on the Buy/Sell tab (Step 1) and then select the Buy tab (Step 2). You can then click on NEO.
In the area below, under “Payment methods”, you will find the previously mentioned payment options (Step 3). In the fourth step (see screenshot) you only have to enter the purchase amount and click on “Buy NEO”. You will then be taken to an overview where you can check all the details once again. Among other things, you can see the transaction fees that is charged for the order. If everything is correct, you can finally complete the purchase by clicking on “Confirm transaction”.
Usually within a few seconds the NEO will be credited to your account and will be visible in the “My Wallet” area where you can also make the transaction to an external wallet if you wish. If you would like to watch the process again in moving pictures, we can recommend the following tutorial by Kriptomat:
Buy NEO on Coinmerce
Tutorial: Buy NEO quickly and easily on coinmerce.io
Coinmerce is a Dutch provider for the direct purchase of cryptocurrencies using Euro by credit card, SEPA bank transfer, IMMEDIATE transfer and numerous other payment methods. The company behind the broker, Coinmerce B.V., is a Dutch limited liability company based in Amstelveen in the Netherlands. The broker is comparatively young and was only founded in 2017, but has grown rapidly and is enjoying increasing popularity.
Coinmerce was founded by cryptocurrency enthusiasts to make buying and selling cryptocurrencies as easy and quick as possible for everyone. The goal of Coinmerce is to make the growing market for cryptocurrencies accessible to everyone. The broker’s motto is “Cryptocurrencies for all”. To achieve this, Coinmerce has developed an all-in-one smartphone app that offers all the features of the desktop version of the market. To make it as easy as possible for the customer, Coinmerce also offers a wallet on which the cryptocurrencies can be stored.
The following video offers a good overview of all features of the exchange:
In order to buy NEO, you have to create a new account. Go to the homepage of coinmerce.io (click here!)* and click the red button “Create account”. Afterwards you have to enter your personal data correctly. Make sure that your first and last name and address match the identity document required for a Level 2 account, such as your ID card.
You will be asked to enter your name, e-mail address, gender, nationality, date of birth, e-mail address and telephone number. After you have also entered a password, you can click “Register”. You will then receive a message that a verification link has been sent to you by e-mail.
You have to confirm this link via the received e-mail. You can then register with Coinmerce for the first time. As you will carry out Fiat money transactions on your account, Coinmerce is legally obliged to request in advance some data necessary for the Know Your Customer process (to implement the European Union Directive on Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terror Financing Laws).

Limits for the purchase of NEO
As with other brokers and exchanges, Coinmerce has different levels of verification. This means that you have to gradually prove your identity to increase the limits for buying NEO, how much you can trade daily, weekly or monthly.
- Level 1 (bank verification)
For level 1 you need to verify your bank account. This is mandatory for the purchase and sale of cryptocurrencies at Coinmerce. You can verify your bank account with iDeal or SEPA. To perform the verification, you have to select go to “Settings” -> “Security Settings” -> “Bank”. There you will find the instructions where and with what purpose you have to transfer 0,01 EUR:
- Level 2 (identity check)
For Level 2, you have to upload a valid ID card, such as an identity card, passport or driver’s license, to Coinmerce. With a Level 2 account you can trade up to € 20,000 per day and € 60,000 per week.
- Level 3 (contact support)
If the aforementioned limits are not sufficient for you, you can apply for Level 3. Coinmerce requires proof of your source of funds, proof of residence and a Skype call. To apply for Level 3, you have to contact the Coinmerce support team.
The table below provides an overview of the verification levels, processing times, transaction fees by payment method, and limits by level:
A special feature of the broker is the Coinmerce Coin. A Coinmerce Coin is always worth 1 Euro. The Coinmerce Coin is a stable coin that is linked to the value of the euro. The Coinmerce Coin should give you the opportunity to secure your returns if you want to actively trade and cash out. In addition, transactions with the Coinmerce Coin are completely free of charge. Thus there are no transaction fees for the purchase when using the Coinmerce coin. In addition, the transaction time is also shortened with the use.
Buy NEO by SEPA, SOFORT or GiroPay
The actual purchase of NEO on Coinmerce is done very quickly and very easy to perform. You go to the homepage of Coinmerce and then select NEO (NEO) in the drop-down menu.
In the next step you have to decide if you want to use the Coinmerce Wallet or if you want to send the cryptocurrency to an external wallet. If you want to use the Coinmerce Wallet, all you have to do is select your desired payment method (iDeal, SEPA Bank Transfer, Coinmerce Coins, Bancontact, GiroPay, SOFORT, EPS Bank Transfer) and click on the payment button to complete the purchase.
You also have the option to have the bill paid by another user. For this you can simply click on the button “Copy” and send the payment link to the third person. However, it is important to note that the order have to be placed via the verified IBAN! Orders paid from another account will be blocked.
If you send your ordered coins to an external wallet you can also do this very easily. All you have to do is activate the corresponding slider (see screenshot below). A field for the external wallet destination address will then be displayed. It should be noted that there is always an additional fee. For NEO, however, this is EUR 0.00.
The wallet of Coinmerce is in our opinion a common but not optimal solution for the storage of NEO coins, as exchanges and brokers have been hacked several times in the past and large amounts of cryptocurrencies have been stolen. A more recommendable alternative is a desktop or hardware wallet (the Ledger Nano S or the Trezor Hardware Wallet). In the next step we will explain how to install the free NEON Wallet.

Buy and sell NEO CFDs on Plus500
Another serious NEO broker is Plus500. The user interface is very simple and clearly arranged and available in German. Furthermore there is a German customer support, which stands with advice and act to the side in the emergency.
The first step to buy or sell NEO CFDs on Plus500 is to visit the official plus500.com website (click here!)* (Risk warning: 80.5% of retail CFD accounts lose money). Enter the email address by which you’re registered here, and a password for your account. Then you can create an account.
You will then be automatically logged in and taken to the user interface. Before you can start buying or selling NEO CFDs, you need to verify your identity. You can do this by clicking on “funds” and “confirm account” in the left menu. On the next page you will have to enter and confirm some personal information. Fill in the required fields, such as surname, first name and date of birth.
Then there are many more questions about your country of residence, your nationality, your home address and the country where you pay taxes. Then you have to answer some questions about your investment experience. Don’t be afraid to be honest, even if you can’t answer all the questions correctly, you can still buy (or sell) NEO CFDs.
Once you have successfully answered the questions, you will be taken to the next step. Now you need to upload the following documents to Plus500 and verify your details:
- Front and back of your passport
- proof of address (e.g. a telephone or electricity bill)
- Verify phone number
- Verify email address
To deposit money into your account, click on the Money column in the left bar and then on “Deposit” – both are highlighted in red in the screenshot.
You will then be taken to a new page where you can select different payment methods. The following NEO buy and sell options are available to you:
- Deposit via credit card or debit card
- Paypal
- bank transfer
- GiroPay
- immediate transfer
The following table shows the deposit method and the minimum and maximum deposit amount.
Once you have selected the deposit method that suits you best and deposited the money, you can proceed to buy (or sell) NEO. Click again on the tab “Crypto currencies” and then on “Buy” (or “Sell”) at NEO.
Now you have to enter in the amount field how many NEO contracts you want to buy (or sell). If you click on “Buy”, (or “Sell”) you will immediately receive your selected number credited to your account.

Trade NEO on Binance
Binance is one of the world’s largest and most popular exchanges, which is not only secure but also extremely user-friendly. Until recently (June 2019) it was not possible to buy cryptocurrencies with Euro (or US Dollar) on Binance. This has changed. Besides trading you have the possibility to buy Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, XRP, Ethereum and Litecoin by credit card. However, you cannot yet buy NEO with a credit card, so you only have the option of trading NEO on Binance against another cryptocurrency.
The first step is to create an account with Binance. To do this, click on this link (Binance.com)* and register. The process is very fast as there is almost no personal data and evidence (e.g. a copy of identity card, proof of residence, etc.). are required.
Unlike many other exchanges, you can verify your identity with Binance, but this is not mandatory. The limits per day are 2 Bitcoin, which corresponds to an approximate value of almost 14,000 Dollars at present. You can therefore use all functions of Binance without verification. However, it may be advisable to submit the necessary documents to achieve a higher limit of 100 BTC per person.
Step 1: Buy Bitcoin by credit card
Once you have registered up, you can buy Bitcoin by credit card on Binance and trade against NEO. The menu item for purchasing Bitcoin by credit card can be found in the right-hand part of the menu under “Funds” and “Buy with Credit Card“. Then you will see the following view. Here you have to select “BTC”.
It is important to know that Binance is working with the third-party provider “Simplex” to process the purchase. In addition, a verification of your identity is required. The purchase process is relatively self-explanatory. Below we have written a short summary of the individual steps:
- Select “BTC” and the currency you want to pay in (Euro or USD).
- Fill in the fields with the personal data.
- Verify your email and phone number with a code.
- Go back to the website and click “Next” .
- Enter your credit card information.
- Upload your documents to verify your identity (front and back of your passport).
Before and after the purchase there are some things to keep in mind:
- The given Bitcoin amount is based on the current price and is not final, but will be calculated later! However, if the rate changes by more than +/-2.5%, you will be asked to reconfirm the transaction by email from Simplex.
- Once the payment is complete, you can check your payment status and deposit history on Simplex.
- The Simplex fee is 3.5% per transaction or USD 10, whichever is higher.
- The daily limit is 20,000 USD per user. The monthly limit is 50,000 USD per user.
- The minimum amount (the minimum) for a transaction is currently USD 50.
>> Buy Bitcoin now on Binance* <<
Step 2: Trade NEO
When Bitcoin has arrived on your Binance Wallet, you can start trading Bitcoin for NEO. We will show you exemplary how you can trade Bitcoin (BTC) for NEO. Alternatively, you can of course also transfer Bitcoin from another exchange or wallet to Binance. You can send the BTC directly to the wallet address of Binance.
If you don’t own Bitcoin yet, you can buy BTC on Litebit with SEPA or PayPal. During the purchase process you simply enter the Bitcoin Wallet address of Binance so that Litebit can send the BTC to Binance immediately after the transaction has been successfully completed.
To find out the “Receive address” of your Binance Wallet, click on “Funds” in the navigation bar and then on “Deposits”. You can then enter BTC in the search field and select Bitcoin.
In the following field you will be shown a Bitcoin deposit address. You have to enter this in the “Receive address” field on Litebit during the purchase process if you want to buy BTC on Litebit and then transfer it to Binance.
You should have Bitcoin on your Binance Wallet by now. Now there are still two small steps to acquire NEO on Binance. Next to the Binance logo in the top left-hand corner, there is the menu item “Exchange” and below it “Basic“. Select this menu item. Afterwards you get to the following overview (see screenshot below). In the search field (next to the red arrow (1.)) enter “NEO” and click on NEO/BTC (step 2).
The display below the price chart then changes. Now you can see the following interface (below the price chart):
First you have to decide what kind of purchase you want to make. You can choose between “Limit”, “Market” and “Stop-Limit”.
Step 3: Limit, Market and Stop-Limit Order with Binance
A “limit” order is an order placed in the order book at a limit price you specify. This means that the trade is only executed when the market price reaches your limit price.
If the market price does not reach the price you set, the limit order remains open. You can delete them if you want. A “limit” order should therefore always be used when you are not in a hurry to buy or sell or want to achieve a certain price.
In contrast, a “market” order is executed immediately at the current market price (see arrow number 3.). Accordingly, the “Market” order is particularly suitable for beginners and investors who want to sell or buy quickly. Since you want to sell your Bitcoin and get NEO for it, you have to use the left field “Buy NEO”. In the “Amount” line, enter how much NEO you want to buy. Once you have entered everything, you can click on “Buy NEO”.
Normally, your NEO coins will arrive on your Binance Wallet within seconds. As with Litebit, we recommend transferring the NEO to an external wallet. This will increase the security of your NEO, as Binance has already been the victim of a Bitcoin hack in May 2019 (during which 7,000 BTC were stolen). A corresponding manual for the NEON Wallet can be found above.
A detailed test report from Binance and a tutorial on how to use the Binance user interface correctly can be found in our Binance test (click here!).
Best NEO wallet: NEON
Installation and setup of the NEON wallet
The best NEO Wallet is the official NEO Wallet developed by the City of Zion Group. A big advantage of the NEON Wallet is that it is an Open Source Wallet developed by the NEO developer community.
This makes the source code visible and transparent for everyone. In addition, the NEON Wallet has a very clear and intuitive user interface with which you can manage NEO, Gas and all NEP5 tokens. If there are Airdrops coming, the new coins will be automatically credited to your NEON Wallet.
The wallet makes it very easy for you to claim GAS. The NEON Wallet also has a Ledger Nano S connection. All you need to do is download the NEO App for your Ledger Nano S and log in safely and easily. If you don’t have a Ledger Nano, you can use the NEON Wallet to manage higher sums. We’ll show you how!
❶ Download NEON Wallet: To download the NEON Wallet, you have to visit the official website and download the Wallet there. If you click on this link (click!), you will get to the homepage. You have the choice between different operating systems. Depending on your PC’s operating system, you’ll need to choose the Windows, Mac OS, or Linux version.
We will show you the installation using the Windows version of the NEON Wallet as an example. The differences between the operating systems are very small. The installation works basically like a “normal” program for your PC. Once the download is complete, you can install the software. Depending on which browser you are using, this step will differ slightly. In the end you only have to start the download file.
❷ Create a new wallet: Afterwards the NEON Wallet opens. You see the homepage of the NEON Wallet. Since you want to create a new wallet, you have to click on “Create Wallet” in the lower left corner (see screenshot).
If you do not have a hardware wallet, we recommend that you disconnect now before entering the following data.
With it you create your private key offline and make sure that your private key is secret and secure. Once you have clicked “Create Wallet”, you will be taken to the next page. Now you have to assign a wallet name and your password (“passphrase”).
❸ Private and Public Key note: Then your Private and Public Key will be generated. Write down both keys on paper (preferably several times) and store them in a safe place. You’ll need both Keys later. Alternatively the NEON Wallet offers you the possibility to print out the Private and Public Key. For this you can use the button at the bottom left (“Print”).
The private key is your master password to access NEO, GAS or other NEP-5 tokens. If you lose the private key, you will also lose access to your wallet forever. A recovery is only possible with the “Encrypted Key” including password. So keep the Keys safe!!!
The Public Address is your NEO Wallet address that you will use to send transactions to your Wallet. This address is public and no secret – unlike the private key. Receiving NEO works with the public address without you being logged into your NEON Wallet. In the NEO Blockchain-Explorer you can see if your transactions have arrived by entering the public address.

After you have created your wallet, we want to show you how to log in. The NEON Wallet offers you different possibilities. The most common methods are the login via a “Saved Wallet” (which we have just created) and the login via the Ledger Nano S. If you restart the NEON Wallet, you will see all login options in the upper row.
- Saved Wallet
This login works very easy! Simply click on “Saved Wallet” and select your saved wallet from the dropdown menu. Then all you have to do is enter your password.
- Private key
The private key login should only be used offline. This login may also be necessary if you are using a new PC. All you have to do to login is enter your private key.
- Ledger Nano S
To login via Ledger Nano S, you have to install the NEO App on your Ledger and then start it on your Ledger. Now click on “Ledger” in the NEON Wallet application to log in.
To get NEO, simply click on “Receive” in the page navigation. Then you can copy the address to your clipboard using the “Copy Address” button and then paste it into a cryptocurrency exchange such as Coinmerce to send your NEO to the wallet. If you want to send NEO, just click on “Send”. Now you can enter the desired quantity and the destination address.
You also have the option to prioritize your transaction by paying a small fee so it can be shipped faster. More details on how the wallet works can be found in our NEO Wallet tutorial.
You can find the current course of NEO here. If you would like to check the prices of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple or Litecoin, please take a closer look at our course overview. There you will find the price movements of over 2,000 altcoins.
