- The IOTA team has confirmed that the IOTA Digital Identity method is now resolvable through the decentralized ID universal resolver.
- This will allow easy integration of IOTA Identity in new and existing applications through an interoperable interface.
A recent update from the IOTA development team reveals that the IOTA Digital Identity (DID) method is now resolvable through the Decentralized ID Universal resolver. This will allow easy integration of IOTA Identity in new and existing applications through an interoperable interface.
IOTA unveiled its digital identity platform with an aim to work for identity for people, organizations, things, and objects acting as a unifying layer of trust between everyone and everything.
The universal resolver developed by the community at DIF is designed to resolve Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) across many different DID methods. The IOTA DID becomes the latest method to be added.

IOTA is keen on offering individuals the power to choose which data to share and with whom through decentralized identity. IOTA Identity empowers users with a more secure and private online experience. This is a world with no usernames, passwords, and data breaches. Furthermore, this is free from the burden of repetitive forums.
Organizations also get a great deal of benefits. Current systems leave us vulnerable to data breaches. IOTA Identity offers a new path. Companies can comply with GDPR and gain trust by empowering users to control their data. This “data protection by design” eliminates the need for companies to store personal information. Secure KYC/AML credentials to verify identity while keeping data with the user. Companies can leverage these verified credentials, reducing onboarding costs and fostering a more secure ecosystem.
IOTA Identity extends trust to devices (IDoT) with verifiable identities. This ensures devices can be trusted and paid for based on real capabilities. Secure ledgers track tasks and interactions, automating processes and eliminating fraud. Digital twins, virtual representations of physical objects, become shareable with trusted identities, enabling predictive maintenance and new services. Security is paramount, leveraging cryptography and verifiable credentials for tamper-proof systems we can finally trust.
The latest integrations signify the growing adoption of the IOTA Digital Identity method. As CNF has highlighted, the new method has celebrated great success. Government institutions worldwide have been working on adopting decentralized identity solutions to provide greater security and protection for their citizens. The global semiconductor hub in Taiwan is now undertaking such projects and has been recently in talks with IOTA to discuss the implementation of decentralized ID solutions.
Additionally, the IOTA Foundation has been in talks with the German government, the EU, and companies in the region and beyond about the use of the IOTA Digital Identity (DID) solution.
